.Goldendoodles are a cross between a purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Poodle.
What does F1 Mean?
A first generation, or F1, Goldendoodle is the result of breeding a purebred Golden Retriever to a purebred Poodle. This makes the F1 Goldendoodle 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle.
What does F1b mean?
F1b (alos known as first-generation backcross) means, an F1 Goldendoodle was bred to a purebred poodle, making the F1b Goldendoodle 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Poodle. What is the adoption process like?
Can I talk with someone before I start the process?
Absolutely! The best way to contact us is through email: [email protected] or through our Contact page.
Where are you located?
We live on a beautiful little farm in Efland, North Carolina.
Can I visit with you and your dogs? Do you have visiting hours?
Yes, we do allow visitors to our property. We do ask that you communicate with us to schedule an appointment. This is our home, as well, and our schedule can vary from day to day, so all of our visits are by appointment only.
Can I visit my puppy before I take it Home?
YES! We think this is an important part of the process! Our families aren't able to visit with the puppies until after they are 6 weeks old and have had their first round of vaccinations. We love watching our families interact with the puppies and connecting with their special pup during this time!
When can I pick up my Doodle Puppy?
The puppies will be ready to go home between 8-9 weeks of age. We will let you know the take home date(s) shortly after the puppies are born.
What should I bring with me to pick up my Doodle puppy?
We require you to bring a collar and leash, so that way if you need to stop, the puppy can be safe if you must exit your vehicle. We also recommend that you bring a crate or basket for you puppy to safely ride in. Young puppies who aren't used to car rides can get car sickness, so we suggest bringing some paper towels and a plastic bag- just in case!
How Big will my doodle get?
A lot of this will depend on the parents sizes. Although we can never guarantee sizes, but in general our F1 Standard Doodles range from 50-80lbs, while our mini/medium F1 and F1b Doodles range from 30-50lbs.
Do your Doodles Shed?
No dog will be 100% completely free from losing hair- even our Poodles lose some hair when brush them. Hair loss will depend on the individual puppy, but in general the curlier and thicker the coat, the less likely they will be to shed. Puppies with flatter, thinner hair will typically be more apt to shed. All puppy coats are straighter than adult coats, so you may see a little more hair loss during the first few months before the curlier adult coat grows in.
Are Goldendoodles Hypoallergenic?
It is impossible to say that any dog is 100% hypoallergenic. Most people with mild allergies will still do great with an F1 Doodle. It is possible to be allergic to a dogs saliva and dander, not just their shedding coat. If you have dog allergies, it is good to get testing done before getting a dog.
How often do Goldendoodles Need to be Groomed?
On average, Goldendoodles need a full grooming every 2 months. This can vary a little bit depending on how short you cut their hair. It is important to keep a watch on the area around their eyes and rear- you may to trim this area from time to time between full groomings.
What FOod do you recommend?
We are a big fan of Purina Pro Plan. We feed to Lamb and Rice puppy food to all of our Doodle pups! You can see links for the food here.
Do you recommend crate training?
Yes! We actually start crate training the puppies at night while they are here. Crate training can help your dog have their own safe space. It also can be a great tool to help with potty training.
How Much do your Goldendoodles cost?
Our standard Goldendoodles are $2750 and our mini/medium Goldendoodles are $3000.
How much is the deposit to get on the waiting list?
A non-refundable deposit of $250 is required in order to get on the waiting list. That deposit goes towards the total balance.
How long do Goldendoodles live?
It can vary a lot depending on amount of exercise, diet and environment. In general, we would say between 9-15 years. Smaller dogs tend to have a longer lifespan than larger dogs.
